Format of Graphics Files - Specification of Different Types of Formats of Graphic/Image

GIF:- The GIF is a bitmap image format. It is widely used in the world wide web due to its wide support and portability. GIF is the permit supports up to 8 bits per pixel. It allows an only single photo image to reference its own palette of up to 256 different colors chosen from the 24-bit RGB color space. It also supports animations. The GIF format is very low suitable for reducing color photographs and other images with continues color, but it is well-suited for simpler images such as graphics or logos with solid areas of color. File extension is (.GIF).

JPG:- JPG to JPEG. JPEG means joint photographic experts group, who created the standard. It is for those photo images which must be very small files, for example, for websites or for email. JPG is used on digital cameras and memory cards. The JPG file is often compressed to perhaps only e 1/10 of the size of the original data. JPG uses lossy compression. Lossy means that some image quality is lost when the JPG data is compressed and saved, and this quality can never be recovered. File extension is (.jpg) or (.jpeg).

PNG:- PNG is a raster graphics file that supports lossless data compression. PNG was created as a replacement for GIF and is the most used format on the Internet. PNG supports palette-based images(with palettes 24-bit RGB or 32-bit RGBA colors"A for alpha"), grayscale images, and full-colour non-palette-based RGB[A] images. It does not support non-RGB color spaces such as CMYK etc.

BMP:- Short for" Bitmap. The BMP format is a commonly uses raster graphics format for saving the image file. It was introduced on the Windows platform. The Bitmap format stores the color data of each pixel in the image without any compression.

For example, a 10x10 pixel BMP image will include color data for a hundred pixels. This method of storing image information allows high-quality graphics, but also produces large file sizes.

TIFF:- Tag image file is a famous & common format for the exchanging of raster graphics images between the application programs, including those used for scanner images. TIFF files are also commonly used in desktop publishing, fixing, 3D applications, and medical imaging applications. File has ".tiff" or ".tif" filename extension.
Unlike standard JPEG files, a TIFF file uses useless compression (or none) so it may be edited and re-saved without losing image quality.
